League Match 4

Posers 0-4 Battler United

What a great match! My four goals come from different players, and I dominated the match! What Mantissa FC failed to do, I did.

This game reminds me of last season's defeat of CrushingFactor, an encounter which I won 5-2 and send Crushing to demotion. Last season, I barely did anything, with 7 points contributed to me before I joined. I contributed a further 6 points.

This season though, I had already collected 6 points and is currently sitting pretty on 4th position. The leaders are still Bravo Warriors, who easily thrashed Mantissa 5-0.

This match really boosted my confidence. I was only 1-0 up at half-time. To finish 4-0 was a great encouragement. It was my greatest victory in the league, apart from the walkover in round 1 this season.

Other results:

Red Chaos 5-0 walkover Bukit Panjang
Norwich City 7-0 WhiteSandsMechs

Norwich thrashed WhiteSands 7-0, and my team 9-0. They could yet have a chance at promotion.

Current positions in the league (points):

Bravo (12)
Norwich (9)
Chaos (9)
Battlers (6)
WhiteSands (6)
Posers (3)
Mantissa (1)
Panjang (0)

Meanwhile, I wish a Happy New Year to everyone on Planet Earth, and a great year ahead!

May the Singapore Lions achieve something in the upcoming AFF Cup!

League Match 3

Battler United 1-4 WhiteSandsMechs

This outcome really surprises me. I was expecting a close encounter. It made me think whether my opponent won it on luck or superiority.

Midfield is usually the factor for winning. In this match, my midfield rating was 33, my best ever, compared to WhiteSandsMechs' 18. However, it might be due to my inability to break down my opponent's defence, with my attack rating 31 compared to my opponent's defence rating of 45. My defence is only a meagre 27, compared to my opponent's 37 in attack.

My team rating adds to 91, compared to 100 of my opponent. Yet, I believe midfield is responsible for a big part of the result.

Nevertheless, it's time to look ahead and it is a make-or-break fixture against Posers. I had to do well with a win, if not I will be plunged into relegation trouble. Even a draw may seem insufficient, since Posers had collected 4 points already, one from a credible yet mysterious draw against Mantissa FC and a win against debt-ridden Bukit Panjang X.I. My 3 points come from a win against Panjang too. Therefore, a draw would still mean Posers are a point ahead of me and assuming our point difference remain the same, I guess I had to win the return fixture at my home stadium, Battleville.

A win would put me well in the seat for survival.

Mantissa FC suffered from a shock draw against Posers and seemed to face real stiff opposition in Red Chaos and Norwich City and is rooted to 7th spot with a single point. Their next match would be against leaders Bravo Warriors, who had yet to lose a single point this season. I guess Mantissa would temporarily remain in the bottom 2 after round 4.

Result from Round 3:

Battler United 1-4 WhiteSandsMechs
Mantissa FC 0-2 Norwich City
Bravo Warriors 7-1 Red Chaos
Bukit Panjang 0-5 Posers (Walkover)

Predictions for Round 4:

Norwich City 5-1 WhiteSandsMechs
Posers 1-3 Battler United
Mantissa FC 0-2 Bravo Warriors
Red Chaos 5-0 Bukit Panjang X.I. (Walkover)

Friendly Match

Battler United 4-5 Kuntrbunt united

This match bears no relevance, but I use it to help my players gain more experience. This narrow defeat is typical of our midfield rating, both wretched (high).

I'm heartened to see my 3rd choice striker score a brace. I currently have 4 decent strikers, and I'm looking to boost my team with an excellent striker. My two other goals come from solid playmakers.

Again I am left with not much to say, hence I would just predict my end of season points total.

I am expecting to defeat Posers in both clashes and Bukit Panjang in both clashes---walkovers unless the team is replaced. Even if a newbie comes in I would still expect another win as I would be more experienced. Against WhiteSandsMechs, I target just a point. Therefore I cnclude my target for this year.

Points: 13
Position: 6th

League Match 2

Battler United VS Norwich City 0-9

This is a very poor match in which Norwich City totally outclassed my 11 players. I had nothing much to say about this match. i already expected the worst, and it came through. My Team Rating was 88, compared to City's 200+. There is no way I could have defeated that team. My position dropped to 5th, still on 3 points. My goal difference collapsed to -4.

This match would be a forgettable one for me definitely. My Team Rating is poor too.

To extend the length of this post, I would predict the final ranking of this series, IV.4.

1 Bravo Warriors
2 Norwich City
3 Red Chaos
4 Mantissa FC
5 WhiteSandsMechs
6 Battler United
7 Posers
8 Bukit Panjang FC (gave up already)

Other results:

Bravo win
Chaos win
WhiteSandsMechs walkover Bukit Panjang

Cup Round 2

Battler united Vs Seventh Mavericks

Score: 3-5

As expected, my cup run was ended by my decent opponent who had inadequate midfield compared to my wretched midfield. However, i really gave my opponent a fight and a fright.

Mavericks really underestimated my team. Usually you only employ a 2-5-3 formation when you face a bot team. However, he used that formation against my 3-5-2 formation. He nearly paid for that decision.

His team got off to a good start, taking the lead in the 16th minute. However, in the space of 2 minutes, I raced into a 2-1 lead! Yet my team conceded one late in the first half. It was 2-2 at the break and Mavericks' organisation was poor.

In the second half, Mavericks' organisation came back to passable and thereby took the lead through a tricky free-kick. My team, Battlers, equalised in the 70th minute. 3-3. However, Mavericks scored two late goals as the superior team wins. It was great experience for me as this was a great fight from my team.

Nevertheless, I was knocked out of the cup. On the brighter side, I would be able to concentrate on league survival and have friendly games to tinker around my squad. My team's confidence is great and my supporters are content.

My next update would likely be quite a while later, but I would be updating on a total of 3 matches---3 posts. These 3 matches would include one against the demoted team from last season, Norwich City. There would be a friendly match and the final one would be a crucial match against WhiteSandsMechs, tipped together with me as likely relegation candidates, together with surprise package Posers.

Season 18 League Match 1

I am facing Bukit Panjang X.I. in my series.

I placed some gamble on my decisions. However, when I checked the score. I won 5-0. That is because my opponent bought an extremely expensive player whose playmaking skills are utopian and therefore suffer huge holes in his wages on the economy. He fired everyone else and seems to be on his way of being replaced by a new team. i would never want to land in that sort of scenario.

He only had a player left and for a match each team needs to have at least 9 players in the starting line-up. Since he only had a player, that means it would be a walkover for me. Walk-over matches have only an outcome---a 5-0 victory. Therefore, I had a great start to the season which could allow me to avoid demotion. However, the two promoted teams seem decent. Mantissa FC has a better team than me while Posers is a newbie but shockingly held Mantissa to a draw.

My opponent to avoid demotion is WhiteSandsMechs, who succumbed easily to powerhouse Bravo Warriors. Red Chaos, who finished 2nd in the previous season, defeated Norwich City, the team demoted from Div. III, 2-0. it came as a shock as the ratings show that Chaos had inferior ratings compared to Norwich. Therefore, I temporarily sit on second position in the league, having already put three points in the bag, albeit undeservingly. My target remains to finish as #6 in the league.

My next game would be a cup match against Seventh Mavericks. Judging from the ratings, it seems that I would lose but as cup matches help provide mre experience points(double of league matches), I would put out a strong young team. Experience helps to raise the skill of players, especially young plaers aged 17-19. Good bye for now, and await my next post on the round 2 cup match.

SC Round 1

Season 18 has begun! I start with an away game to a bot team in the Singapore Cup. Fielding a weakened side, I managed to defeat my opponents 4-1. At half-time, I was leading only 2-1 and was worried. I realised I put a really weak team on the ield and was lucky not to have been punished. I used a 3-5-2 formation and my superior midfield, though still bad, was enough to secure passage into the next round without too much of a hassle.

In round 2, I will face a rather decent team whom I expect to lose to.

My next game would be against Bukit Panjang XI in the league and though I expect myself to lose again, I would be pitting all my wits to try and scrape a draw. I hope my gamble would not backfire greatly and cause my supporters' mood to plunge.

Denominations

For more clarification, these are the denominations:

Player abilities:
1) divine
2) utopian
3) magical
4) mythical
5) extra-terrestrial
6) titanic
7) supernatural
8) world-class
9) magnificent
10) brilliant
11) outstanding
12) formidable
13) excellent
14) solid
15) passable
16) inadequate
17) weak
18) poor
19) wretched
20) disastrous
21) non-existent

The player abilities include:

Primary: Keeper, Defending, Playmaking, Winger, Scoring.
Secondary: Stamina, Passing, Set Pieces.

Most of my players have primary abilities of solid and passable. There is also a youth squad which I invest some HT money on. I did not sack three of my promoted youth players. They have primary abilities of inadequate and weak. Furthermore, players of too hih a quality is not very good, since it would cost a lot to buy them and a lot for their weekly wages.

International friendly

I volunteered for an international friendly match between Hong Kong and Singapore. It is a match where 8 teams from Singapore play against 8 teams from Hong Kong. Matches would be decided. I heard this from a conference and offered to join. I realised that my opponent is a good team. I believe I just have to put on a fight. My match is against Litter.Rain and I am the host---my opponent would have to pay some HT(Hattrick) money to 'travel' to Singapore. Here is the match report:

Battler United Player rating and team formation
Team Attitude: Normal
Tactic: Pressing
Tactic skill: poor

Midfield: wretched (low)
Right Defence: poor (low)
Central Defence: weak (high)
Left Defence: poor (low)
Right Attack: disastrous (high)
Central Attack: disastrous (very high)
Left Attack: weak (very high)

Litter.Rain Player rating and team formation
Team Attitude: (Hidden)
Tactic: Normal
Tactic skill: (no tactic)

Midfield: solid (high)
Right Defence: magnificent (very low)
Central Defence: brilliant (very low)
Left Defence: brilliant (high)
Right Attack: wretched (very low)
Central Attack: weak (low)
Left Attack: wretched (very high)

These are the ratings. As can be seen, I am lucky to be defeated by only two goals considering the difference in quality.

Qualification Game

To clarify, a qualification game is a game which decides either a team gets promoted or demoted. For me, as I finished the season in 6th place among 8 teams in Div. IV. 4, I avoided direct demotion to the bottom level of Singapore---Level 5. However, I needed to play a qualification game and in order to survive, I had to win.

My opponent is a 'bot', which means it is not controlled by any users. This makes that team easy to play against as a bot keeps playing the same players which are rather poor. Below is the standard match report for the match which I won 1-0.

Battler United Player rating and team formation
Team Attitude: Match of the Season
Tactic: Attack in the Middle
Tactic skill: solid

Midfield: wretched (high)
Right Defence: wretched (low)
Central Defence: weak (high)
Left Defence: poor (high)
Right Attack: poor (very high)
Central Attack: weak (very low)
Left Attack: weak (low)

Changi Athletic Player rating and team formation
Team Attitude: (Hidden)
Tactic: Normal
Tactic skill: (no tactic)

Midfield: disastrous (low)
Right Defence: wretched (very low)
Central Defence: wretched (low)
Left Defence: wretched (low)
Right Attack: wretched (very high)
Central Attack: poor (low)
Left Attack: poor (very low)

I defeated Changi Athletic 9-1! I am able to survive this season mainly due to the fact that I replaced a team in IV.4 that is very good and had collected 7 points in the first 3 matches out of a possible 9. As I joined, I had 2 wins and 9 losses and contributed to my survival. It would be much tougher next season. To be really good, one have to be experienced in the game. You have to handle your finances really well to avoid debts and possible elimination from the game. You have to think about buying and selling players wisely by bidding. Another important thing is to analyse your opponents clearly to be able to get a hand on their weaknesses. As well, there are conferences in the game which can help you have a better grasp of the game.
